Take The Cake With Assorted Birthday Cards

I have always been the world’s biggest procrastinator, justifying all my last minute responsibilities by saying that I work better when under pressure. Even the simple job of getting birthday cards ahead of time will turn into a quick stop before work at the local drug store to pick up a card the day of a co-worker’s birthday. But after witnessing someone else’s last minute behavior recently, I feel a lot better about my own last minute doings. And it has also prompted me to purchase a box of assorted birthday cards!

I recently stopped one night at a local drug store chain after work. I pulled into a spot in the parking lot and noticed a young woman sitting in her car, with the interior light on, obviously doing something in the unoccupied passenger seat next to her. I got out of my car, looked in to her car and saw a sight that has kept me chuckling ever since. This woman was bent over a graham cracker pie shell, scooping chocolate pudding out of small pudding snack cups with a white plastic spoon, into the pie shell. An aerosol can of whipped cream sat next to the pie shell awaiting it’s turn in the creation of this pie. The woman was making a graham cracker pudding pie probably for someone’s birthday she would be attending within the next few minutes! She did not look up from her “baking” task or otherwise she would have seen me smiling and looking in at her. I thought to myself, “That really takes the cake!”

I still get a smile on my face when I think about this procrastinating pie maker sitting in the parking lot. But now I have a supply of personalized birthday cards on hand as well as an empty graham cracker pie shell, pudding mix and a can of aerosol whipped cream in my kitchen at home…just in case. I don’t ever want to get caught making a pie in my car on the way to someone’s birthday party!

A Shadow Box Filled With Personalized Birthday Cards

When I moved away from my family in Massachusetts to New Jersey in 1978, my mother and I got into the habit of sending each other greeting cards for not only every holiday, but for any reason whatsoever. We would come across funny personalized birthday cards, thank you cards, and other all occasion cards in our travels and mail them to each other as another way to keep in touch other than by telephone. Inside these greeting cards, I would include pictures of my growing children and she would sometimes include cash, coupons, and anything else she deemed worthwhile. We looked forward to these thinking of you cards because it brought us closer together, despite the distance we were from each other.

My mother is now in a nursing home as she has Alzheimer’s disease. She does not really comprehend too much of anything anymore but I still decided to send her a card for her birthday shortly after she went into the home. I knew she wouldn’t be able to read it or even open it, but I could not forget it was her birthday. I hoped that a nurse would read it to her and perhaps place it on her nightstand. On my first visit to the nursing home, I discovered that each patient had a shadow box hanging in the hallway outside of their room in which photos were placed of their family or anything else the family chose to display. There was my mother’s birthday card in her shadow box, the only item she had! I was so happy that one of her nurses had taken that card and placed it in her empty shadow box.

Now I look forward to sending my mother a special card for every holiday – and occasionally one for no particular reason at all. I look for greeting cards with bright colors and pretty designs. I try to include a current photo of myself even though I absolutely hate to have my picture taken. Although it is only a card, it is still my small way of keeping in touch with my mother, who has lost touch with the world we once knew together. I don’t want her shadow box to ever be empty again.

Personalized Birthday Cards And A Coupon

I used to think of myself as pretty stoic when it came to my birthday; I didn’t care if I received cards or not.  I am not anti-birthday cards, I send out birthday cards to all of my friends and family on their special day.  Actually one of my claims to fame is that I can remember a person’s birthday once I hear it. It’s a strange talent but people enjoy it.  This year I received personalized birthday cards from my yoga studio and inside the card there was not the usual “Happy Birthday to You” sentiment but the greeting was a coupon for a free session. The yoga studio actually sends these to clients on their birthday; this was a very clever idea and I really did enjoy receiving that card.

I mentioned this to a friend who owns a business and she told me that she already orders birthday cards by the box to send to her clients. She has the inside printed with a message that she will make a donation in their name to a charity; a thoughtful and generous idea.  Now that I discovered the many uses for birthday cards, I look forward to receiving them.

Personalized Birthday Cards Flew us to California

Who would have thought that personalized birthday cards could have been so rewarding. It was my daughter Terre’s Sweet 16 birthday and she didn’t want to have a Sweet 16 party, the same as all of her friends were having. She wanted instead to go to Southern California – Huntington Beach to be exact – with three of her best friends (my sister and I also went). So I ordered some custom imprinted birthday cards which incorporated a special invitation for Terre and her three best friends to Huntington Beach for one week for a Sweet 16 birthday vacation. I placed a round trip airline ticket in each and gave out the special birthday cards to my daughter and her friends. They were thrilled, to say the least.

When the special vacation week finally arrived, we had a limo come and pick us up to go to the airport. We landed at LAX and for our first night, we stayed at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. We got to the hotel, checked in and went to the poolside café to have lunch. We were so excited to be there and so hopeful we would see a famous person or two. We weren’t there ten minutes when Jennifer Aniston walked in and sat at a table 25 feet from us. The girls could barely hide their excitement at seeing her. I really couldn’t either!

While we were all too shy to say anything to her, she was very sweet nonetheless. She couldn’t help but notice the gaggle of teenage girls trying not to stare at her. When we were finished and on our way to do some sight-seeing, Jennifer waved to the girls as they got up from the table and left. Well, they were on cloud nine the rest of the day.

We left for Huntington Beach the next day and had a great time. We didn’t see any other famous people but to be honest, seeing Jennifer Aniston was all we could handle for one trip! But those special birthday cards, and the whole vacation, is a memory the girls will cherish forever.

You’ve Got Birthday Cards

Another year has gone by and your birthday is approaching. It could be a milestone year or just another year. You might be thinking that no one will remember you and then the U.S. Postal service makes a delivery. To your surprise your chiropractor; the chiropractor that was referred to you by your neighbor, sent you a birthday card.  These small surprises in life can bring a lot of joy. How thoughtful it is to get birthday cards from someone other than your mother.

Personalized greeting cards are a wonderful gift to give. It might be a small token from a business owner, but it certainly leaves a lasting impression to their clients. It could be your dentist, accountant, lawyer or financial advisor. It is a way of staying in touch with clients who will remember you when they are in need of a special service. To operate a small business isn’t easy these days; to stand out amongst the competition is an important part of your success. Sending personalized birthday cards adds a special touch that is appreciated by all.

Corporations who remember their employee’s birthdays by sending a card also let their workers know they are more than a number. Everyone has a birthday to be celebrated and being remembered with a birthday card is a comforting feeling. I know when I receive one I display it on my desk for a while. Lots of times there are notes from my coworkers, wishing me well plus little remarks that brighten up my day.

Remembering people and letting them know they are thought of in a positive way will bring a smile to their face. It is a good tradition to send birthday cards, as it is usually better to send then to receive!

Business Birthday Cards – Sometimes They Come with a Surprise Inside!

I think we all know those people who, whenever their birthday comes around, insist they don’t care if anyone remembers or not. They always say they’d rather forget their birthday when they hit a certain age. Well, I’m not one of them. I love getting birthday cards – and business birthday cards are some of the best.

I don’t have a lot of credit cards, but I am a sucker for opening a new one every time my daughter and I are shopping. Some of the new stores offer a nice premium for opening the card and then, of course, you get on their mailing list. Lots of coupons and junk mail come my way, but then so does a birthday card and guess what’s inside it – a coupon, just for me, just because it’s my birthday. These personalized birthday cards, complete with the company name, logo, address, online ordering option – everything to make shopping easy – are always welcome in my house.

It’s amazing how many companies are on the band wagon for sending personalized birthday cards. My mom, a big fan of our local casinos, gets birthday cards from each one of the many places where she has left a deposit over the years. They each include a little “freebie” and by taking advantage of each one of them, an elderly woman is having a great time, and each of the casinos benefits from her visits.

One of our local restaurants even has a birthday club. So on your birthday, you get a personalized birthday card and a coupon for your birthday meal on the house. Of course, people don’t usually dine alone for their birthday, so the restaurant benefits by giving away one free meal, but getting several paid meals as a result of the birthday celebration.

I’m sure from the sender’s point of view, it’s a smart business decision to make sure your company’s name pops up in the customer or client’s mind, but it’s also a nice surprise from the receiver’s point of view for them to know someone remembered their special day. If you ask me, that makes sending personalized birthday cards a “win – win” situation.

Are Environmentally Friendly Greeting Cards The Way To Go?

A card has different meaning for every individual. One person can see it has a special note while another individual can see it as a waste of paper and another tree gone. However, things are different now. Many companies offer environmentally friendly greeting cards that are gentle on our resources but still allow you to express your gratitude, well wishes, and holiday cheer along with your regard for the planet.

One environmentally friendly card that I absolutely love receiving is made on seeded paper. Instead of throwing the card away or storing it in a bin you can plant it and watch a beautiful flower bloom. However, there are some cards that you never want to let go – personalized birthday cards. Personalized cards have that special touch. It shows that the sender thought of you. I store birthday cards in a bin and read them over and over again through the years.

This past birthday, my mother fell ill. I was so focused on my mom that I didn’t get the opportunity to read any of my cards. I place them all in a bin and said I would get back to them shortly. Days, weeks, and months passed – until the other day when I was rearranging the closet and I saw the bin where I store my birthday cards. I received so many thoughtful wishes. Each one had a different note with a wonderful birthday greeting. There was one card that stood out among the rest. The paper was luxurious and it featured gorgeous, sparkling stars. It really caught my eye. Then I saw that it was from my Mom. She wished me a happy birthday and said “I know how you feel about the environment!”

I was a bit puzzled until I turned the card over and saw that it was an environmentally friendly greeting card. I had no idea such a lustrous card could also be good for the planet! It brought a huge smile to my face. In my opinion environmentally friendly greeting cards are definitely the way to go!

A Birthday Card and a Free Haircut

As the owner of a salon and spa, having as much personal contact as possible with my customers is vital. Throughout the year, we have promotions and raffles at the salon. Sometimes we choose to raffle off hair care products or even services. We have also started sending out Christmas cards. I believe that this is a great thing to do as far as promoting relationships with customers, but I also feel that because so many Christmas cards get sent ours may get lost in the “shuffle”. We were racking our brains trying to think of something else that we could do during the year where we actively reached out to the customer. We finally came up with the idea of sending birthday cards. In our minds, there wasn’t anything more personal to someone than their birthday and it is truly a special day.

We included a coupon for a free haircut in the personalized birthday cards that we sent. Our response was truly overwhelming – the customers felt so appreciated and were so surprised that we remembered their special day. Sending birthday cards truly boosted our business. Even though we give away a service (and that costs time and money), we’ve made up for it in so many other ways.

Sending personalized Christmas and birthday cards got us thinking that there were other types of cards we could send too. For instance, when we acquire a new customer we now send them a welcome card with a new customer discount for a haircutting service. We also send a thank you card whenever one of our customers refers a new customer to our salon. And you guessed it – they also receive a promotion of some sort!

With their envelope imprinting, personalization, and SealFast envelopes, the Gallery Collection has made it so easy for us to remember our customers in a special, elegant way.

No More Running to the Store with Personalized Birthday Cards

I had no idea that you could order personalized birthday cards. I knew about personalized Christmas cards but not birthday cards. Between my husband and me we have two parents, one step-mother, nine siblings (and their nine spouses), and 18 nieces and nephews – several with significant others and one great niece!! There are only two months out of the entire year that we are not celebrating someone’s birthday.

Since my husband can’t pick out a card to save his life, I am left with the responsibility of buying all 43 birthday cards every year. Then I discovered personalized birthday cards. Now I order 100 personalized birthday cards in the beginning of the year so when the occasion pops up I am all ready to go. No more running to the store (43 times) and spending upwards of $4.00 for a card. And I have the envelopes personalized with my home address so all I have to do is address the envelope, add a stamp, and the personalized birthday card is on its way. Oh yeah, I forgot one thing – I have to put a check in each one. Now if I could only find a way around that…
