National Boss Day Appropriate Gestures of Appreciation

The other day my co-workers and I were discussing National Boss’s Day. With this being the first year that our Manager is here.  Appropriate Gestures of Appreciation were being tossed about the conference room since our boss was on vacation.  This was our opportunity to get the ball rolling. Just what are we going to do this year to show our boss how we feel about her and her leadership?  A few belly laughs later along with some silly suggestions a good idea emerged.  She has commented that through laughter we can usually find solutions.  We came up with the idea that on October 16, 2015 a Thursday we would have a beautiful bouquet of flowers on her desk when she arrives.  Along with that there will be her favorite cup of Starbucks coffee the Café Misto and a large box of mini Cinnabons a favorite pastry she absolutely adores. But OH the calories!!!  She is funny that way, eating them on a special occasion is totally acceptable.  We all feel the same and will enjoy them along with her!  She will enjoy her Café Misto and cinnamon bun all the while enjoying the beautiful flowers all through day and again on Friday.  She can then take them home and enjoy them over the weekend and be reminded of how much we appreciate her and the comradery she encourages amongst all of us here in the office.  Although her sense of humor is really what we appreciate the most.

  1. This was the first year I observed National Boss’s Day at my new job. I was so impressed how everyone contributed to make this day extra special for our supervisor. She truly does deserve this recognition as every day she goes above and beyond the call of duty to assist us so we can do our best to meet the goals of our company.

  2. If you have a great boss celebrating National Boss’s Day with flowers, coffee and pastry is a good idea, me-my boss will get a card for National Boss’s Day, maybe.

  3. I think the best way to celebrate Boss’s day, is something that would make your boss happy. For example if they love chocolate, give them a box of chocolates.

  4. My team is so sweet and goes all out for bosses day. They bought me flowers, a spa giftcard and had breakfast for everyone. I was so grateful!

  5. We like to take our boss out for lunch. We are a small team of 6 so it is nice for us all to get together and relax a little.

  6. If there is one thing my boss always needs it is coffee. We got her kcups, a mug, giftcards to Starbucks and just about anything we could find to fit the caffeine theme! Might last her a week 😉

  7. My boss is a big basketball fan so we usually get him two tickets to a game. We have a large group so it ends up not being too expensive when we all chip in.

  8. There are a lot of superiors out in the work place that are great and make coming to work fun. This is a great way to acknowledge them.

  9. Gosh you know your boss sounds just like mine. We do something like that for him each year too!

  10. As a both, I don’t expect anything, but it is still very appreciated. I most enjoy when we do something that gets the whole group together because it helps build our team.

  11. We always give a nice gift and usually a gift card also, along with a card that everyone signs. We gather round and present the gift together. We are lucky to have a great boss!

  12. Bosses deserve to feel appreciated too – after all, it isn’t an easy job handling a team of people. My boss has a huge team and we like to book a spa day or something equally relaxing for just herself.

  13. I have to say I really like a lot of the suggestions in the comments. We give our boss flowers usually, but the idea of taking the boss out for lunch is really nice! That is a great way to get the whole team involved (unless your boss oversees a huge group of people).

  14. I was so shocked and touched by how thoughtful my team was with my gift this year. They put together a gift basket of all my favorite things.

  15. I’m jealous of your boss! Sounds delish! Being a boss can be rough, but having a supportive team makes all the difference.
