{"id":7424,"date":"2015-09-24T11:00:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-24T15:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gallerycollection.com\/blog\/?p=7424"},"modified":"2025-05-15T17:00:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T21:00:59","slug":"exercises-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gallerycollection.com\/blog\/the-workplace\/exercises-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercises You Can Do At Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Keeping your body in shape is definitely not an easy feat especially when you are working at your desk.\u00a0 It is important to keep your muscles moving and your heart pumping.\u00a0 Sitting idly is not good for your body or your mind.\u00a0 Think there is no way to find the time to keep your body healthy?\u00a0 Well, I have some easy solutions to get you started!<\/p>\n<p>As with any exercising, start with basic stretching.\u00a0 Yes, I said stretching right at your desk.\u00a0 As you exercise, make sure you are keeping your shoulders back and your head straight in order to help with your core.\u00a0 Start with 8 slow moving neck rolls to keep your body relaxed.\u00a0 Next, work on stretching your arms by bringing them straight in front of you and raising them up and down.\u00a0 Try to do two set of 8.\u00a0 Even simply pumping your arms overhead for 30 seconds will be progress.\u00a0 Something else you can do is, lift each shoulder individually similar to a shrug with again two sets of 8.\u00a0 To work your stomach muscles, simply sit up straight and twist at the waist.\u00a0 Start out slow and work up to multiple sets.<\/p>\n<p>You can work your legs also even though you are stuck in that chair.\u00a0 Sit upright with both feet flat on the floor pulling in your abdominal muscles.\u00a0 Then, lift one leg, hold for ten seconds then lift the other.\u00a0\u00a0 Try to repeat 8 times.\u00a0 Another way to work on your legs is to cross your ankles and lift your legs again keeping your stomach tight.\u00a0 Apply some downward pressure on your knees and hold until your muscles are tired.\u00a0 Simply lifting your knees to your chest can aid in keeping your muscles fit.\u00a0 The silent seat squeeze is a great way to work your glutes without anyone knowing you are even exercising.\u00a0 Just squeeze your buttocks and hold for 5 or 10 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some basic tips to keep your body ready for any situation.\u00a0 Make sure you are drinking water.\u00a0 Water is essential to staying in good health.\u00a0 Also, make sure you are making good decisions.\u00a0 Standing is always better than sitting so stand whenever possible.\u00a0 I know that elevator or escalator is tempting, but how about taking those stairs?\u00a0 Even if you start by only walking up one flight and build on that, it will help your body engage.\u00a0 At lunch instead of hanging out in the break room, head outside for a walk around the building.\u00a0 I also find it beneficial to park my car at the opposite side of the parking lot from my office building\u2019s door.\u00a0 No matter how tired you are at the end of a crazy day, you will have no choice but to walk those extra few steps.\u00a0 It is imperative to keep your muscles moving and your heart pumping!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Keeping your body in shape is definitely not an easy feat especially when you are working at your&hellip;","protected":false},"author":118,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"csco_singular_sidebar":"","csco_page_header_type":"","csco_page_load_nextpost":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1296,1316,510],"tags":[706],"class_list":{"0":"post-7424","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-tips-and-trends","7":"category-office-wellness-tips-and-trends","8":"category-the-workplace","9":"tag-work-exercise","10":"cs-entry"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 -
