Office Fun for Earth Day

Earth Day has arrived, and there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the day while working in the office. For example, go on a company walk or a hike. Whether it’s a quick break to stroll the surrounding scenery, a planned excursion to a wooded destination, or an optional day-off meeting — going on a walk or hike with coworkers is a great idea. Not only is it a relaxing and healthy way to spend some time, it will also allow employees to form stronger connections to each other and to nature.

Another Earth Day option is to bring in seedlings, seeds, or full blown plants, soil, pots, and paint. Take a break from work to have a joined activity of decorating pots and planting some flowers, fruits or vegetables, or other plants! Try to pick something everyone will enjoy and is pet-friendly, just in case. Not enough time to host this workshop-esque atmosphere? Allow employees to take their plants home and either plant them outside or in a pot. Supplies can be found at your local Dollar Store, so don’t worry about a hefty price tag! Don’t forget to hang up decorations for Earth Day and place posters or flyers in high-traffic locations with fun facts. Try using facts relevant to your office or the people you employ. Include Earth-saving tips to encourage better global citizenship.

Have fun celebrating Earth Day 2018!

  1. It’s a shame my company didn’t even acknowledge Earth Day. I spent the day hiking and taking in the beautiful scenery.

  2. Great ideas! We organized a clean up walk at my office to celebrate earth day, picking up trash that we came upon along thwe way.

  3. I remember celebrating earth day 2 years ago by planting a tree. We need to protect the planet.

  4. We started a recycling program in our office. It is so easy and people really have gotten into it.

  5. I gift everyone in my office a plant for their cubicle on their birthday. Bring the outdoors in!

  6. Not a word about Earth Day in my office! We have lots of plants around so I guess that’s good for the oxygen level in here, but I need to get a small one for my cubicle.

  7. I don’t know anything about Earth Day. We had Arbor Day when I was in school. All I know is I am hopeless at growing plants. I have artificial ferns & other greens in a pot on my desk and they are thriving!

  8. The best way to honor Mother Earth is for all business, schools & households to actively promote recycling. Make it easy for your workers, your students or your family to recycle – put properly marked containers in easy reach – turn lights off when not in the room – the smaller footprint we leave the better future generations will have.

  9. I am all for promoting Earth Day in the workplace, in fact I think companies should treat each day as eco-friendly as this ONE day we decide to be self aware, that being said; paper straws are the WORST.

  10. I think planting is very therapeutic and something that the whole office might enjoy. The results are astounding, you can see a plant grow before your eyes! This is more important for companies that use a lot of resources such as paper.
